The Year-s Best and Worst in Comedy
While the summer was jam-packed with super movies and romances, it may seem like their hasn’t been too many great comedies coming from Hollywood. However, there are some great movies that have been overlooked. Far and away the biggest success was the newest Steve Carrell comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Crazy, Stupid, Love is a comedy with more than just jokes. It follows Carrell as his wife asks for a divorce in the opening minutes of the film. It completely changes his life as he is thrust back into the dating scene without any support. Ryan Gosling, a young socialite, steps in to teach Steve how to get his groove back. It is hilarious watching Steve and Ryan try to pick up girls. However, the movie is also extremely touching teaching the audience about love, marriage, and respect.
The biggest comedy flop of the year was Bad Teacher. The promos showed a sexy Cameron Diaz being the worst teacher that you could possibly imagine. It looked beyond funny and was bound to be a sure winner. However, all of the funny parts were included in the trailer and the movie flopped. No one went and saw it, and the studio lost money.
