Going to see a brand new movie in the theater can be a great experience, only if you are able to watch an enjoyable movie. There are so many movies that come out throughout the year that are simply not worth the money it costs to buy a ticket. The best thing for you to do is to read reviews before you actually go to see a movie. After the first day of its opening, people often review and rate a movie so that other people can benefit from their review.

By reading some of these reviews, you will be able to tell if a movie is worth paying for and watching. You might find that you are able to save a ton of money on movie tickets by avoiding paying for ones that have not received good ratings and reviews. Using the Internet to find out about movies can help in terms of saving money and being able to go to the theater to watch only movies that have received good reviews. Be sure to read expert movie reviews as well as reviews written by other people who have simply gone to see the movie in the theater themselves.

A lot of people have been talking about the film “John Carter,” Disney’s latest offering in the world of swashbuckling action and adventure. Some felt it was a gripping and action-packed tour de force while others felt like it was a bloated and awkward beast with so many moving parts that it ultimately couldn’t handle the weight.

To truly review this movie, I feel some catching up is in order. For those of you who do not know John Carter is actually based on a book written by Edgar Rice Burroughs called A Princess of Mars. It was part of a series of stories about a civil war soldier who mysteriously dies on Earth and somehow finds himself alive on Mars. From there, he uses his Southern values of honesty, gumption and machismo to become a mighty warrior and unite a warring world for the benefit of all life on the red planet.

That’s the story in a nutshell, but there is so much more. What John Carter suffers from is a severe case of identity crisis. Sure, John was a hero, but he was not a super hero and Disney has really tried to turn this into a kind of comic book movie. The end result is awkward and ham-fisted. What John Carter does manage to nail down perfectly is the fights so if you want an action movie, this might just be up your alley. If you want to see a deep and engrossing tail of a hero’s journey from rags to riches, you might want to look elsewhere. Either that or wait for it to come out on Netflix or In-Demand if you get your TV through places like www.GiveADish.com.

There has been a lot of competition this year for which is going to be the biggest blockbuster hit and which will win the biggest awards. Trailers make out to seem like every thriller out there is going to be the best thriller of the entire century, but more times than not, it ends up being a bust and a disappointment. Then again, there are those movies that come out and surprise us.

Fast Five certainly took the lead when it came to the best box office bucks for best thriller. This movie stars Vin Diseil and Paul Walker, as well as the original gang, racing the best and coolest cars ever seen. Another thriller that was a huge success was Hanna, a movie about a trained assasin that the Cate Blanchett is out to get. However, the assasin is only sixteen years old. One of the most talked about thrillers of the year was The Lincoln Lawyer.

Going down into failures, The Roomate, starring Leighton Meister, topped the list of not only the worst failed movies of the year, but also the biggest thriller failure of the year. Coming in second, would be Red Riding Hood with Amanda Seyfried.

While the summer was jam-packed with super movies and romances, it may seem like their hasn’t been too many great comedies coming from Hollywood. However, there are some great movies that have been overlooked. Far and away the biggest success was the newest Steve Carrell comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Crazy, Stupid, Love is a comedy with more than just jokes. It follows Carrell as his wife asks for a divorce in the opening minutes of the film. It completely changes his life as he is thrust back into the dating scene without any support. Ryan Gosling, a young socialite, steps in to teach Steve how to get his groove back. It is hilarious watching Steve and Ryan try to pick up girls. However, the movie is also extremely touching teaching the audience about love, marriage, and respect.

The biggest comedy flop of the year was Bad Teacher. The promos showed a sexy Cameron Diaz being the worst teacher that you could possibly imagine. It looked beyond funny and was bound to be a sure winner. However, all of the funny parts were included in the trailer and the movie flopped. No one went and saw it, and the studio lost money.

There is nothing more enjoyable than snuggling up and popping in a romantic comedy. 2011 was one of they special years filled with some of the most hilarious comedies in the romantic genre. In the film ‘No Strings Attached’, Ashton Kutcher, and Natalie Portman play roles of friends with ‘benefits’. Basing their relationship on no relationship, Ashton and Natalie are in constant conflict throughout the film. Another film actually called ‘Friends With Benefits’ Starts Justin Timberlake. Friends With Benefits and No Strings Attached each have a similar plot.Is this new to you? Catch up here The film ‘Something Borrowed’ was a crowd favorite. This light hearted film made many women relate to the main character and plot. Romantic comedies are found to be one of the most popular genres. Women are not the only viewers of romantic comedies. The male persuasion is often a new targeted demographic for up coming romantic comedies. The ideal romantic comedy should leave a viewer with the warm, fuzzy feeling of satisfaction. Romantic comedies always end on a positive note, and sprinkle humor throughout the film. Some films are more focused on the comedy aspect of the film, while others are strongly focused on the romance.

Horror movie aficionados are a tough and select crowd. Despite the fact that they pack the movie house on Friday nights whenever a new horror film is released, and unfortunately the majority of these films are remakes, generic horror clichs, or films that are completely derivative, these gore enthusiasts are always looking for the movie that will achieve cult-like status.

The Human Centipede achieved that status this year, and it is easily one of the best horror films to be released in a while. The plot begins in the most generic manner; two girls, on their way to a party, are driving on a road in Germany when their car breaks down.Get more information here. http://insidemovies.ew.com/2011/09/06/human-centipede-2-exclusive/ Looking for help, the girls are taken in by a mad scientist. What follows is a horrific tale of survival and science gone awry. Using three victims, the doctor creates a human centipede by sewing them together. Dark and disturbing, but short on gore, The Human Centipede is the type of horror film that sticks with you for a couple of days; it is like being unable to scrub the dirt off when you take a shower. The images, like the hapless victims, are sewn into your head.
