The Year-s Best in Action Films
Action movies hardly ever disappoint in terms of movie ticket receipts. Movie goers love power-packed films that entertain them and keep them on the edge of their seats and tantalize all of the senses. 2011 showed to be a rather interesting year for action movies. There were a lot of comic book adaptations, remakes, and sequels/prequels. However, there were a few that stood out above the rest and these are the best action movies of 2011 (so far).
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Movie goers were eager to see the return of Optimum Prime and the rest of the Autobots ward off Megatron and his army of Decepticons in this third installment in the Transformers franchise.

This movie was based on the comic book of the same name. The Thor comics have been very popular throughout the years and have a legion of faithful followers that filled the theaters to watch this action movie.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Sadly, this is the last Harry Potter movie that will grace the big screen. Hordes of Harry Potter fans spilled into theaters to give this action movie one of the best opening weekends in movie history.
Fast Five
Vin Diesel returned in the fifth installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, along with Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was also a big name star that gave this movie the kick that it needed to shoot this action flick into overdrive.
X-men First Class
This action-packed prequel unveiled the history of the X-men and its primary focus was on Professor Xavier and Magnetos relationship and how it developed over the years.
Captain America: The First Avenger
Yet, another action movie that was based on a comic book superhero of the title name.
Cowboys and Aliens
This is a sci-fi action flick that is a hybrid of the old westerns and the sci-fi alien movies.
The Green Lantern
Ryan Reynolds plays the title character, and this movie too was based on the DC Comic book character.
